SECTOR STRUCTURE OF ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN 1998

Campeche had 27,334 economic units operating in 1993. Commercial establishments stood out, with 12,215 units. 27.4% of the units were engaged in providing private services; these were predominantly restaurants, small food businesses, home-made food to go establishments, beauty salons and auto repair shops.

The manufacturing industry accounted for 3,272 economic units in Campeche. These include: soft drink and purified water manufacturing units; freezing plants for fresh fish and seafood; tortilla makers, bakeries and blacksmiths are also scattered in neighborhoods and villages.
